Despite being a day free of any touristic activities, my body clock woke me up at around 0730. I lazed in bed and suddenly it was 0900. I must have fallen back asleep.
I spent the morning doing admin on the computer before heading out around 1200 to change money at the bank. It was far too busy at the first one and at the second, the rate was too bad. Third time lucky at the BBR Bank, the rate was 79.70 RUB per USD, better than at Vladivostok.
Again, the teller was fastidious with the condition of the notes. D had brought six USD100 notes and only two of them were good enough, meaning he had lost access to two-thirds of his funds. The risk of running out of money in Russia is very real!
We took lunch back at the canteen before heading to a supermarket and back to the room around 1430 for a rest.
For dinner, we went to another Vietnamese dinner which again turned out to be pan-Asian, like last night. Both nights, the meals were actually good and fairly authentic.
On the waterfront around 1900, we had just missed two Amur River cruise departures by different companies. We tried to stay shaded for about 45 mins before boarding a boat that looked optimistic with enough passengers already.
The cruise lasting 1h10 took us upstream to the combined 3.9km rail and road bridge and back. Being an evening cruise, there was a party vibe with a good number of people dancing and singing along to music. I noticed that most were women. Perhaps the men are serving in the military, in the war against Ukraine?
Combined with another long walk on the waterfront afterwards, we got back to our room around 2200.
