Nanzha Old Street
We woke at 0630 and lazed around for a bit before I did my rehab exercises for my shoulder impingement.
We decided to go out for a wander to see what could tempt us for breakfast. Nearby, we found a place that did Chinese style wraps filled with a crispy cracker, lettuce and a sausage add-on.
Late in the morning, we took a walk to the Nanzha Old Street area. I’m not sure if we missed the area but all we found was a small alley with a few small shops, but otherwise largely residential. However, we did see the outside of the area flanking the canal in a tidy and authentic state, rather than the touristic creation that we had seen yesterday evening.

The Wuzhen East Scenic Area wasn’t far away, so we continued in that direction by foot. As we were ready for lunch, we started looking out but found nothing much and settled on a local burger chain called Wallace. Their cheap chicken burger was excellent, with real chicken thigh meat instead of reconstituted meat patty.
Wuzhen East Scenic Area
We got to the East Scenic Area about 1230. The entry ticket was considerably cheaper than for the West Scenic Area as it was much smaller. It is also a lot more authentic with many people living in the area.
While there were some touristy stalls, it didn’t feel like Disneyland in the West Scenic Area. In addition, there were a few museums. But the are was largely residential with some greenery, flanking both sides of the straight canal.

Despite the West area being very commercialised and Disneyesque, I would say that it is more picturesque and very enjoyable regardless.
We had originally planned to come here around 1600 but learnt that it closes at 1800, meaning that it wasn’t suitable for a night wander as with the West area. And tickets here are single-entry too.
From the East area, we found the free shuttle to the West area where we could easily walk back to our hotel for a rest around 1430.
It was a short lazy day again. After a delicious dinner in the hotel restaurant, Kim popped out briefly for a foot massage.
