Cliffs of Moher

Moving north

Today we drive north to our nightstop at Galway but with a scenic detour to the coast of County Clare.

We left Killarney at 0830 and passed through Adare, a beautiful town with a lovely golf course.  It was a bit hard to stop, so we kept driving until we had an unpected scenic spot at Bunratty Castle.

Around 1000, we arrived into Limerick where we looked for parking and then breakfast or brunch.  We struck it lucky at a chain restaurant called Shake Dog where they served a cooked breakfast including a cuppa tea for EUR4!  That’s like the price of just the hot drink in most other places!  We quickly looked up other branches they may have but none of them open for breakfast.

Cliffs of Moher

Heading towards the coast of County Clare, we arrived at the Cliffs of Moher around 1300.  It was a busy place and we drove into the carpark which was free but we paid heftily for each of our entry tickets then.

Walking into the actual cliffs site, there was no ticket check and drivers could have actually dropped their passengers off here for free and paid for only themselves to park and enter.

From the cliffs, we lost our way a little due to poor signal for navigation but found our way to Doolin and the rugged The Burrens area.

We dropped in at a Lidl supermarket before going to our student accommodation called Swuite at 1615.  The spacious room was equipped with a decent kitchenette which gave us options for dinner in case we didn’t see anything in town later.

After a rest, we headed out for a drive into Galway town.  It’s certainly a place for the pub and live music vibe.  We didn’t see much that we fancied and both agreed that something cooked up from Lidl would work better.

We managed to find a Spanish tortilla (frittata) that heated up beautifully in a pan along with some chicken pieces and a salad.
