By Lake Tana

Today we travel to our last stop in Ethiopia, not counting our return to Addis afterwards.  We had a van ride booked at 0700 to take us to Bahir Dar.  While on the bog, still way before our pick-up, the hotel man came to let us know that the van was nearly here.  Not long after, it was tooting.  I reckon, he told us the van was 0700 rather than the actual earlier time so that we would commit to this van.  As a result, we kept the full load of people inside waiting for about 15 mins as we readied ourselves.

The 2h30 trip on good roads went quickly.  It was supposedly 4h on the bus.  Arriving at Bahir Dar, we were surrounded by touts.  Marie hit one of them on the hand as they tried to help with her luggage (for an unknown fee I guess).

We stayed at the Bahir Dar hotel on the edge of Lake Tana.  We took two separate rooms with mosquito nets.  The lakeside setting with its many pelicans is relaxing.  And there weren’t too many mosquitoes fortunately.
