Meeting family

I arrived into Dubai at 0110 for a connecting flight at 0315 to Bangkok.  Surprisingly, that was enough time for me to go to the airport first class lounge near Costa Coffee for a shower, internet and snacks.

The flight to Bangkok took less than the scheduled time of 6h10.  The Boeing 777-300 seats had more legroom (pitch) but were narrower.  It was extremely noisy during climb.  The crew served a delicious breakfast of prawn and fish congee with ginger and carrot garnish.  It was divine for probably most Asians but possibly no westerner would have opted for that meal choice.

Landing in Bangkok at 1225 I took a limo taxi to the Grand Ville Hotel near Chinatown.   I had organised for Mum and step-dad to come join me here.  I’m in town for a Thai massage course and they could explore a little and have my company part-time.

After lunch, I walked to Wat Pho to try find the massage school registration centre.  I tried asking for help from locals but they seem to just point to any random direction!  I gave up and returned to the hotel.

Despite my sleep-deprived state, I managed to go out for dinner in Chinatown before retiring around 2200.
