Back to square one

6 April 2007

Today I return to where I started in Morocco.  To Casablanca, for a nightstop before flying out.

I got a trolley porter to help with my luggage from my accommodation to the CTM bus station.  The 1115 bus took around 7h30 including a lunch stop of tajine to get to Casablanca.

During the journey today, I chatted to a Moroccan to understand more about education in their country.  I was interested in how people become bilingual in French and Arabic (plus their local languages).  He explained that in school technical subjects are taught in French while others in Arabic.  His work in the Interior Ministry of the government probably deals with 80% of the work in Arabic and about 20% in French.

Upon arrival, I took a petit taxi to Hotel Central, where I first stayed, for my final night in the country.

There wasn’t much of the day left.  I headed straight out for a kebab and ice-cream before retiring.
