Short Nightstop

11 February 2007

A wrap and fruit was offered prior to landing in Singapore at 0130.  Obviously the crew knew that very few people were disembarking in Singapore.  They came round with immigration cards only during final descent, handing them only to people who put their hands out.  It didn’t give passengers much time to complete the cards.

In Singapore I have a short night-stop at my step-dad’s house.  In fact, it wasn’t even technically a night.  Step-bro had set up the spare room nicely for me.  I slept for 4h before waking up around 0700.

I was flying to Kuching to see family, travelling through Johor Bahru’s Senai Airport.  Malaysia Airlines runs a coach from the Copthorne Hotel in Singapore.  I checked-in at the hotel at 0800 for the 0900 coach departure.

There, I ran into a glitch.  My flight had been rescheduled some time ago and in the re-booking process, my e-ticket number had been detached from the PNR in the airline’s system.  Fortunately I had the e-ticket number available and everything was remedied smoothly.  I can’t stress enough, how important it is to have both the PNR and e-ticket number available whenever travelling (except on some budget airlines which utilise the former).

The border crossing into Malaysia was pretty painless today and I had time at Senai airport for a delicious Asam Laksa.  That didn’t stop me from enjoying a meal of sweet ginger sambal chicken with biryani and an achar of cucumber, carrot and mustard seed.  It is amazing that Malaysia Airlines serves such good meal on a flight of 1h20.
