Uzbek visa application

30 August 2017

Today I had an important date.  I specially planned the trip so that I’d have some time in KL to submit my Uzbek visa application.  I was still finding it hard to get going in the morning.  I had tried to be out the door after 0800 but it didn’t happen until 0900.

I took the monorail/train combo from the hotel to Ampang where it was a short walk to the Uzbek embassy, not far from its Sudanese counterpart which I had visited a few years ago.  Ampang is the embassy district so most are located here.

The Nepalese guard at the gate let me in but I had to leave my bag and phone at the guard house.  Once inside, a staff member went through the details on the form with me.  He didn’t have any issues with anything and told me to come back after 5 working days, but to make a payment at a nearby bank beforehand (USD65 for 2 weeks).

The pickup time worked with my planned return through Kuala Lumpur, so that was a relief.  The man was a little serious (perhaps in a Soviet style) but still helpful in answering my questions and giving information.

With the major errand done, I spent the day in a couple of malls eating and having a blind-man massage.
