I woke at 0300 but managed to sleep again till 0700 before having breakfast at the hotel. It was to be a lazy day as I had done much of Istanbul in recent years and I have the feeling that I will be back soon. Today was more a spare day in case things didn’t go well with my standby flight from Kuala Lumpur to Istanbul.
I had a late start taking the tram then Tunel up to Taksim, walking up Istiqlal Street pedestrian mall. After a light lunch, I returned for a rest. I needed a second lunch so tried the Balik Ekmek fish sandwich in a nearby restaurant (as opposed to off the boats in the harbour). Hhmmm … fish sandwich with a fish fillet which includes some bones. Not ideal. Anyway, I finished it.
I headed out for some more exploration later and returned at 2200.
