Back on the mainland

5 August 2017

I had set the alarm for 0645.  After a quick wash I left the hotel.  It was cloudy.  The north side of Gran Canaria is often cloudy, windy and a bit cooler than the south.  But it’s not all bad as it does make a pleasant change in summer.

There was a short wait for the bus to San Telmo station where the buses run at least every 15 mins to the airport.  The journey was much shorter than from the south and I was there within 20 mins from leaving San Telmo.

It was a dream experience through security.  There was no one!  I was in the lounge at 0815, only 30 minutes after leaving the city station.  Having filled up on meat last night, I wasn’t hungry … I’m just not used to eating much meat.  I did eat a little  during my two hours there  –  two small fritata square, two small sandwiches, two coffees and some water (including some to go).

Norwegian’s flight back to Barcelona left on time.  The captain had a beard down to his lower chest Osama-style but he was European!  It was nice to have a spare seat next to me.  The flight went quickly with reading, planning and writing.

I arrived in Barcelona in no time and was quickly on the bus to Ginebra Hotel right on Plaza Catalunya.  With the next few days expected to be quite busy, I relaxed for the rest of the afternoon.
