Moving house with child labour

3 November 2008

Above: Our two helpers … one big wheelbarrow and one small one. One young man and child labour.

We moved into our new home today.  With the paid help of a boy and a young man and their wheel barrows, we moved Marie’s stuff over from Kristina’s flat … plus our wheely travelbags in tow.  We unloaded our stuff into the entrance-way and waited for the landlord to give us the OK to use the brand new wet-and-dry vacuum cleaner to clean the house.

The landlord is now more Yemeni than French.  We sat and watched him chew qat with friends until the evening.  He’s setting up the building really nicely … we have a juicer-blender and an oven in the kitchen!  None of our friends have ever had an oven here … only burners.
