Food poisoning from First World food

27 October 2008

After two weeks in Cuba I land back in “civilisation” … Miami Airport. We landed at 1212 from Nassau after a short 1h12 flight with American Airlines on a prop plane.

At Miami Airport Kim and I shared a ham sandwich, then I bought a turkey sandwich for later.  Ooops!  Bad move.  I ended up with the runs (and Kim didn’t) … so it must have been the turkey sandwich.

Kim and I parted ways here as we went back to Los Angeles and then Auckland. I continued to New York at 1430. It was a very quiet flight with American again on one of their old Airbus A300. It’s amazing that it is so refined compared to some newer jets.

On the flight, I started getting an inkling that my tummy wasn’t right. I had noticed that the sandwich sold in Miami was made in Boston. Perhaps it hadn’t been properly chilled all the way through.

After landing at JFK at 1729, despite tummy issues and lengthy public transport, I made it to my Couchsurf host in Brooklyn without incident/accident.
