Taxation without representation

6 October 2008

Above:  Taxation without Representation is Tyrrany.  Tyrannised in DC.

Today I bussed down from Philly at 1150 to Washington DC. I had booked with the same bus company as before through the same website, but I couldn’t get a USD1 fare. I felt ripped off paying USD15 for the journey of about 2h30 🙂

One of the beliefs that led to the establishment of this country is that taxation without representation is tyrrany.  And guess what … because DC is not a state, people are taxed but do not get representation in the Congress.  And it shows as a tagline on their car number plates.

In Washington I couchsurfed with a lovely gentleman Jim whose place was handy by foot and subway to the various sights.
