Southern coast

21 October 2003

We had a lazy start and left home, driven by David, around 1130.  We headed out towards the south-western tip of the island before driving along the southern main road towards the east to Torteval, St Martin’s and back to St Peter Port.

We stopped at various points of interest at various points, for photos or walks.  The most significant stop was one with German military bunkers.  We also had a nice tapas style lunch of Greek food and seafood at a place called The Hollows.

The scenery in Guernsey is really beautiful.  The grass was green and the sea blue, despite the cloudy weather.  It’s what I imagine of Scotland and Ireland.  There are quaint rock cottages dotted amongst the greenery, just off the very narrow roads.

David and Sis dropped us at St Peter Port where we had a short wander.  Unfortunately, persistent rain cut us short and we took the bus back to their home a short ride away from the harbour.

We had dinner at a pub.  Again, David beat us to paying for the meals.
