With my Malindo flight from Kuala Lumpur to Kuching at 1705, I had a bit of time to kill.  After some muesli in my room, I went for walk and ride in the public transport before returning to rest.  I checked out before the 1200 limit and took the bus to the airport.

Even though my flight departed from Terminal 1, I went to Terminal 2 to use the landside lounge before making my way to Terminal 1.  Because the inter-terminal trip depended on a bus or train ride, I had to wallow sufficient waiting time of the transport.  With luck on my side, it only took 25 minutes from the lounge to get airside at the other terminal.

I double-checked with Malindo Air staff about whether mobile boarding passes were accepted here and they replied that the airport authority doesn’t accept them and reprinted a paper one for me.  They seem really disorganised issuing them when they’re not acceptable at their main hub!

This trip to hometown Kuching was time to coincide with Hari Raya Puasa (Eid ul Fitr).  It is usually a festive occasion in hometown with many friends returning from overseas.  But this year, a few of my Muslim and non-Muslim friends aren’t around.  We’ll have to see if it is as good as previous years.

My flight left about 20 minutes late.  And with bad weather in Kuching requiring us to circle, I landed about 45 minutes late around after 1930.  We were fourth in line to land after circling, so the airport was madly congested with people and cars in the pick-up area.

There must have been a run on Grab cars as well and I had to wait for a while before being picked up for my ride to my apartment.  While my stay in Kuching is to spend time with family, I do have a friend coming to join me before we cross to Kalimantan together for a little adventure.
