Flying to Fak Fak

23 June 2014

I got driven to Nabire airport at 0545. When I got there at 0630 the counter was unattended as the staff were busy despatching the flight to Jayapura. After a short wait, check-in commenced manually.

The flight to Fak Fak via Kaimana left slightly late and got me to my destination more or less on time. The airport is located on a flat amongst the largely hilly countryside. I took a van into town and found a clean bright room at the Tembagapura Hotel. Fak Fak is quite a nice town but I don’t have enough time to do its only interest, the cave paintings near Kokas. There is otherwise nothing to do except to rest up for tomorrow’s connecting flight.

Since mobile internet is nearly non-existent on very bad 2G, I made use of my free time to go to an internet cafe. It was slow but I had time  🙂

I tend to ask myself what the residents of a place are called. I often don’t get the answers. I gathered that those in Solo City are called Soloists and the ones here in Fak Fak are Fak Fak-ers?
