Warped genetics

17 July 2011

It was back to Indonesia after a few days in Thailand and Malaysia. I flew off to Banda Aceh at 1215 today on AirAsia, landing at 1240 (with an hour of time difference). I had a couple of hours waiting at the Ulee Lheue ferry terminal for my ferry to Pulau Weh. Arriving at Pulau Weh’s Balohan port, I used a minivan to Gapang beach on the far side of the island.

On the flight, I had sat next to Jonas, a Swedish airforce fighter pilot-in-training. As we had the same destination of Gapang, we travelled together.  Some Acehnese must have a really warped understanding of genetics! I was asked twice if this 25 year old blonde blue-eyed Swede was my son!
