Concours d’Elegance

Kim, Eric and Rodger were off to the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance (classic carshow) today.  That really didn’t interest me and I didn’t want to pay an exorbitant sum to see more cars.  But I couldn’t stay back at the hotel as we had checked-out for our move down a little further south.

We decided the best thing for me to do was to spend the day wandering around Monterey.  It’s a nice seaside town with a large aquarium.  I got dropped off there and was picked up later in the afternoon.

The camera went to Pebble Beach with Kim, so photos are from Pebble Beach rather than Monterey.  He had a good day with classic cars staged on their famous golf course.

We spent the night in Arroyo Grande to set us up for a shorter drive down to Los Angeles tomorrow, for our flight to London.

The drive down from Pebble Beach to Arroyo Grande was a nightmare due to forest fires.  The traffic came to a standstill for about two hours en route.  This meant we got to the Best Western late at night, hungry and tired.  We had to settle for fast food by the hotel.  Rodger wasn’t up to fast food and that made life difficult.

Back at the room, the American toilet, which has a higher water level than in other countries decided to overflow after our use.  There was toilet paper and excrement on the toilet floor.  The hotel staff were well set up for this, as if it happens all the time.  They cleaned up the mess swiftly.
