Carmel and Pebble Beach

Above: Street scene in Carmel today.

We headed out in the car this morning to Carmel and then Pebble Beach.  Along the way, Kim was distracted by a sign saying there was a car show at San Martin County Park.  Of course, he couldn’t resist that and we took a detour there.

This car show wasn’t really Kim’s type of cars.  The community type expo was more for modified vehicles, some beyond recognition.  Some were very well restored, regardless.  Some people have more money than taste I guess, because it takes a lot of money to do those modifications.

By the time we got to Carmel, I was famished.  The place was packed with beautiful people and their expensive cars.  There were many nice boutiques and galleries housed in quaint old buildings, and many mansions of the wealthy too.

Street scene at Carmel today.

The town is unusual in some ways.  There are no street addresses, no home mail-delivery, with residents needing to utilise PO boxes instead.  It is also illegal to wear high-heel shoes without a permit!

From Carmel, we continued to Pebble Beach. There was already a good line-up of classic cars already, with their owners all enjoying each other’s company and chat.  This was the free day whereas tomorrow visitors would have to pay.  I’m absorbing to my heart’s desire (which is not a very high amount of desire) for free as I won’t bother coming back with the others tomorrow.
