Scaring the Singaporeans

30 May 2006

I hate flying from west to east because it’s hard to get up in the mornings.  I woke at 0700.  After a momentary doze, it was 0900.  There’s not much we had to do anyway, being with parents who are approaching 80 years of age.

Step-dad’s relatives Jacob and Janet came to visit.  Mum asked me to show them my photos of Yemen.  They were appalled at how people could carry guns and daggers in everyday life.

They’re fiercely proud of Singapore’s achievement as a developed country and don’t have much time for poorer countries.  Instead they look towards the west.  It kinda goes with their high-powered corporate jobs.  They probably think nothing about gun control (or lack thereof) in the USA and the mass shootings there!
