A restful day

19 May 2016

We had a much needed lazy day, waking up without an alarm. After breakfast, we returned to bed just to read, write and look through photos. We finally left the room after 1100 to do a walking tour of the old city using our guidebook. As it turned out, we had already seen a large part of it yesterday but the guidebook gave us a few more insights. We collected our laundry, had a snack lunch before returning to the room for more slothful lazing around.

In the late afternoon, we ventured out again to areas new to us. Firstly, Calle Loreto with its Incan walls which form the base of the Spanish buildings. Then the arty area of Plaza San Blas and the surrounding hillside streets. That took us back to Plaza de Armas where we shared a beer overlooking the Cathedral and the Jesuit church at dusk.

We found a good Peruvian, Italian and Mexican place which did set meals (appetiser, soup and main) for 15 soles. This offer included an aperitif and drink too! Thus ended a day of rest, relaxation and recharging.
