Back to Khartoum

12 March 2014

I lazed most of the morning away playing with my newfound (but slow despite 3G) connectivity to the world. Soon it was time to check-out and kill some time before going to the airport at 1500 for an 1800 flight back to Khartoum.

I managed to share a ride to Port Sudan airport with a fellow guest at the hotel.  Waiting for the flight, I noticed that quite a few women have 2-3 vertical lines down each cheek. I reckon it is some decorative scarring. I have also observed with surprise that for a third world nation, Sudanese are very big people. Perhaps it is strong hardy genes, or maybe there is more nutrition in the fuul that they eat. They’re tall, big-boned and often have huge hands, feet and God knows what else. They’re also big-hearted and kind people.

Once again, Badr Airlines left about 30 minutes earlier than scheduled. We got to Khartoum and disembarked at the normal domestic terminal (rather than the Haj and Umrah one) which meant that I could walk to the hostel.
