Moving down the coast a little

10 December 2013

Today I finished my five day Iyengar yoga course. After lunching and farewelling my coursemates, my guesthouse owner biked me to Mandrem, a quieter village about 10 minutes south of Arambol.

It lacks the colourful people that make up Arambol. It is so quiet and laid back it makes Arambol feel like a town rather than a village. Perfect place to chill.

On the down side, there are less choices for drop-in yoga classes. I walked to Arambol two mornings (45 minutes) and hitched one afternoon to do a total of three classes (one ashtanga/vinyasa and two Iyengar) over there, and used a motorcycle taxi back. I did the remaining classes in Mandrem hatha style.

Together with massages and laying in bed a lot due to some kind of virus I think (slight fever, feeling hot/cold, sore throat, sore muscles, swollen lymph nodes), time went pretty quickly. I didn’t feel well enough to go swimming till my last full day.

After five nights, it was time to move to Panaji to see a bit of Goa’s historic sites.
