Hong Kong nightstop #1

3 December 2013

Immigration was a breeze today. It always seems to be the case when I need to kill time and when the queues are shocking, I have a tight self-connect to make. I took the A21 bus into Mong Kok and was at the Lucky Hostel by 0730 waking up the manager from bed. I was able to have a room straight away but couldn’t sleep. I rested till about 1000 as there is nothing much to do in Hong Kong before 1100; nearly everything is closed. Many coffee shops weren’t even open earlier on, but I managed to find wonton noodle soup for brunch.

I went for a massage at Wan Chai; masseuse #81 who came highly recommended wasn’t around and wasn’t reachable by phone. I had someone else who was also very good and strong. She turned out to be from Shanghai instead of a local. From the conversation, she appeared to be very ambitious, or a social climber … she was interested in how much people earn in different countries and fishing for work opportunities in Malaysia, New Zealand etc. “Perhaps you can sponsor me in your country?” I wonder what else she does to get upwardly mobile?

As I’m bound for frigid Harbin later in the trip, I checked out Uniqlo for some clothing. I overdid it and didn’t limit myself to just thermal stuff. I do like their clothing as they are cheap and very good quality. As it turned out, I made two more purchases the next day.

After some congee and kailan, I turned in around 2100 which is quite admirable as I had just done a night flight.
