Good riddance to timeshare

Third and final timeshare presentation

We took a light breakfast at the Welcome Centre.  They didn’t have a toaster for a bagel and untoasted bagels are a little too stodgy.  It was the standard two-hour presentation which started with a general chat lasting 1h, then a tour of the property, Vacation Village Weston.

We noticed that these units were newer and nicer than the one that we have been accommodated in.  The older units, we were told, are let out as motels and not given to owners for their holiday says.

Back in the office, our two hours were up.  At our first presentation, I didn’t mind going over-time substantially because we were being shown lots of things that were new to us.  At the second, they gave up quickly because they knew we weren’t going to fall for it.

But at this third one, I was over the whole thing.  I said that our two hours were up and asked for our accommodation vouchers.  They quickly rushed through the numbers but we politely asked not to be delayed.  We got our accommodation vouchers and left.  Good riddance to timeshare presentations!  [Edit:  We will do them again if the rewards are good as seen here.]

Shopping and exploration

The world’s largest factory outlet mall beckoned.  It’s called Sawgrass Mills.  Some outlets there were too expensive for us still.  We managed to get some good deals at GAP, TJ Maxx, Beals and Marshalls.  That easily killed four hours.

We continued to the pier and beach area.  We had dinner at Aruba where they meals were excellent.  A ginormous roast beef sandwich was only USD10.25 while a seafood stirfry (loaded with prawns, huge scallops and fish) on rice was USD16.99.

Back at the hotel, we checked out the facilities.  They had a gym and a pool where the water was reasonably warm.  With the cool air temperature though, I didn’t take the plunge.  This is despite Fort Lauderdale feeling warmer and more humid than Orlando.
