Snorkelling

Going snorkelling

Due to not being able to go diving today, we went snorkelling with two Italian girls. We left at 1000 by speedboat and went to five spots: Blue Lagoon, Tanjung Genting, Turtle Point, Fish Garden and Shark Point. The water was crystal clear in all places except Shark Point (which was still quite good). There was reasonable sea life in each place but Turtle Point had two huge turtles resting and feeding in the shallow seabed.

Unfortunately we didn’t see any sharks at Shark Point; the couple in the next chalet reported a shark sighting in one out of two trips and even then it was fleeting (usually the case with sharks).

As there were only four of us, we were back earlier at around 1300 rather than 1400. No need to wait for the stragglers! We lazed around for the rest of the day.

Squirrels are good

Last night, our sleep was interrupted by rustling noises.  Rats were scurrying around our luggage and on the plastic bags of various things we had, including food.  Next morning we found one packet of Oreo cookies missing.

During the day we looked around for holes and gaps that may have let the rodents in.  We shifted a cupboard and found lots of empty wrappers and other stuff under it.  It looks like it’s not the first time the creatures have been stealing food from guests.

We later saw squirrels around the chalets and realised that they were the culprits.  Somehow we felt that squirrels are good but not rats or mice.  The main difference between them is a fluffy tail and it makes them more endearing.  They’re smart too; they can read!  They chose to take the packet of hazelnut oreos and left the blueberry one behind.
