Delinquents in Singapore

22 July 2012

After a yummy pot luck lunch with old friends, I decided to join Bee Wah and Swee Leng for a walk in the evening. The circuit took us on the road then through Bukit Batok Scenic Reserve. It was a green side that I’ve never seen of Singapore. The walkways were very well maintained and for a change, the trees were au naturel and hadn’t been pruned to the same height. We managed to time it right and see the setting sun impart a pinky glow over the city and Marina Sands hotel.

It was also my first experience with litter in Singapore. There was rubbish scattered around some bins. My guess is that wild delinquent monkeys forage through the bins for food. Singapore hasn’t found a way to train its apes yet or impose fines (or other apely penalties) to deter them from their normal behaviour.

We concluded the walk with some very delicious laksa 🙂
