The bus arrived early in Salalah by about an hour … despite a holdup due to another bus catching fire on the road. The fire service were there to put out the fire … impressive considering it was in the middle of nowhere.
Vicky collected me from the bus station before going to work. Vicky and her husband Steve are from Britain/Australia and are good friends of Vanessa … a friend of mine now living in Brisbane. Vanessa had noticed that I was in Oman and kindly put them in touch with me. It was so kind of them to host me!
After a little breakfast I retired to catch up on sleep till about 1pm.
Later in the afternoon, we went to the Crowne Plaza Hotel by the beach … where we enjoyed the beach and pool facilities set amongst coconut palms. The weather was warm enough to enjoy the water … without that icky humidity.
It seems like the perfect place on earth until you remind yourself that it’s winter … and that summer would be just unbearable.
