Bintan back to Singapore

12 October 2006

I was hoping to have an early breakfast today so I could fit in as much as possible of Club Med Bintan before our departure.  But Mum had a bad night sleep due to indigestion and needed to sleep in.  We ate breakfast about 0800.

I checked-out the gym around 0915 and did a workout using machine weights.  Check-out time is 1100 but I managed to wrangle a late check-out for my room till 1200.  I checked Mum and step-dad out of their room at 1000 and shifted them to my room so that we could all go for a swim.  I swam in the sea then the pool.

I was glad I pushed step-dad into this plan as he was content with checking out at 1100 and sitting at reception till 1215 when lunch was served.

The lunch of deep-fried firm tofu smothered in rendang sauce was delicious and so was the ikan bilis with chilli and peanuts.  The tacos and papayas were great too.

We were ushered onto our bus which left at 1315 for the ferry.  The GOs continued waving goodbye until they were no longer in sight from the bus.  Our boarding passes were handed to us on the bus together with our Indonesian departure card and Singapore arrival card.

The ferry left Bintan at 1430 for the 45 min journey back to Singapore.  It got rather choppy as we approached Singapore.  Arriving at 1615 we managed to catch a taxi home without queueing at the taxi rank.

At step-dad’s place he worked on my back a little.  I had put it out the day before our Bintan trip just by sneezing.  We were meant to have a simple dinner of congee after the good food at Club Med.  But Mum found some amazing goodies in the fridge:  mi goreng, chilli crab and deep-fried baby octopus.
