Homeward bound

26 May 2003

We have a night flight back to Auckland tonight, which meant we had plenty of time to kill. After a trip to the supermarket where we bought some fruits, we visited my aunt and uncle. They were both well and in good spirits in their old age.

Back in the city, we collected our printed photos and also Kim’s car stereo which he had left behind by accident. We also decided against buying a computer monitor despite the savings of about NZD200-300. It was too bulky to carry home and it was savings for the purchase of an unnecessary luxury.

We returned to the house mid-afternoon and prepared for our departure. With our Air New Zealand flight departing at 2020, we left home before dinner time. All went well at check-in considering we were on staff standby tickets.

The flight wasn’t particularly full and we could have had three seats in Economy Class. But Kim chose for us to use our paid upgrade into Business Class. We were given access to Singapore Airlines’ Silver Kris lounge which was very posh. We had some fried dumplings, fish curry and fruit. The bathrooms and shower were beautiful. It was a nice way to finish up in Singapore before taking off, homeward bound.
