Nightstop

17 October 2002

Our flight had left Auckland on time and took nearly 12h to get to Hong Kong. Upon disembarkation around 1800, we went to the transfer desk to collect boarding passes for tomorrow morning’s flight to Bangkok and Chengdu.

Initially, we were told they could only give us the first one to Bangkok but not the second to Chengdu. But after a little while they managed to issue both. The staff were incredibly rude, an issue I’ve encountered in Hong Kong before.

We walked across to the Regal Airport Hotel attached to the check-in building. While it was gawdy inside, the rooms were quite nice. It was also rather expensive by our normal standard but it would be a waste of our short overnight to travel to/from the city.
