Getting a dental crown

15 November 2022

I spent about 1h30 in the Kathmandu airport lounge but ate little since we had eaten just before.  As our flight had a 40 min delay, I headed to the gate around midnight and cleared security to enter the departure hall.

We boarded the Malaysia Airlines B737-800 to Kuala Lumpur and pushed back around 0050.  A meal was served immediately after the climb.  Unfortunately, my seat recline was broken, further lowering the chance of a decent rest inflight.

The flight went quite quickly suggesting that I had dozed off a little.  We landed in Kuala Lumpur about 35 mins late.  Our connection to Kuching had now been reduced to a very safe 3h still, so we wandered the domestic airside area to get the cheapest coffee at MYR5 instead of a fancy one at around MYR13.

The domestic flight to Kuching left like clockwork at 1055, arriving at 1245.  My ride back to the apartment was awfully long with a driver that seemed to like avoiding traffic without consideration to mileage and fuel.  He took every possible detour and the usually half-hour ride was nearly an hour.  But he was so nice and friendly I enjoyed the conversation.

In the evening, I spent an hour battling rush-hour traffic to get to the dentist for the first of my two appointments for a dental crown.  After enduring an hour in the chair, having my affected tooth ground to a conical stump, I treated myself to a yummy meal of Nasi Kerabu.

Heavy rain had set in over dinner and I was worried about my drive home in a sleep-deprived state. Fortunately, all ended well and I was pleased to be finally in bed.
