Multi-level marketer on board

20 October 2011

Departing Christchurch at 1610, the 11h15 hours on the super-quiet AirAsia X flight went reasonably quickly.  That was even without in-seat personal entertainment. These were all removed when they realised people weren’t paying to use them. I managed to catch-up on some reading and planning for next year’s travel!

Just before landing, the crew gave out free SIM cards (from Tune Talk) to those who were interested.  A second crew member came round offering it again shortly after. To her amusement no one was interested (naturally).  She was saying, “come on guys, its absolutely free”.

When I told her that her colleague had already given them out, she responded “Bloody hell! No wonder everyone is looking at me like I’m selling MLM!”.  (MLM = multi-level marketing).  I dispute the claim that Asian airline’s crews do not bring their personalities to work … I’ve seen and heard very shocking retorts by Malaysia Airlines’ crew to their passengers in deserving situations.

We arrived into heavy rain at KL at 2225.  Fortunately we didn’t get too wet walking over to the nearby Tune Hotel where we overnighted.
