Killing the day

19 October 2005

Today, we have a day to kill, about half of it without a hotel room.  We have our flight to Easter Island departing after midnight.

We started with a simple breakfast of cereal, stale baguettes, pate and cheese.  We relaxed till our checkout time of 1100 and transferred our luggage into the Crew Lounge for safekeeping.  We got seats by the pool and relaxed there.  Today, we took our first meal in the hotel by having lunch in-house!  Ironically, it was after we had checked-out.  We shared a Caesar Salad with shrimps and a Club Sandwich.

For a little activity, Kim and I shared a kayak and we went out to sea briefly, while Rodger had one to himself.  My left side is either stronger or has better technique.

In the afternoon, I swam in the lagoonarium with the fish around feeding time.  It was an amazing experience being amongst a dense pool of fish including three rays!

We ate in-house again for dinner.  It was just too inconvenient to go elsewhere.  We repeated our Caesar with shrimps and added on a chicken breast with curry sauce.  The Tahitian cultural evening was on tonight, which provided us some entertainment.

We showered and relaxed in the Crew Lounge before taking a taxi to the airport around 2145.  After check-in, we were entitled to lounge access using our Business Class boarding passes.  Kim was kind enough to arrange with staff there so we could bring Rodger in as well, despite holding an economy class seat.
