We have a big day with a night flight to Vienna at 2345. When I woke at 0500, I allowed ourselves to sleep a bit more till the alarm at 0715 and then somehow it was suddenly 0845. That’s nearly 10h sleep for me! I guess we’re on local time now, which is great preparation for the next time change as we fly to Europe.
The girls had gone out for breakfast already. I had some muesli in the room and made use of the room till 115 when we checked out.
We would be homeless till the night flight and had worked out a rough plan for killing the day. For some, this seems like a waste but Taipei is a city we have visited and I need to be back in November.
We started with a massage a couple of doors away from the hotel. The 1h massage was awesome, as it was quite efficient. Somehow, they managed to fit in three passes up and down my spine and also my limbs, in that short time.
I gave Kim some options for lunch and he was quite OK with the Indonesian in the underground mall. Being Sunday, it was super crowded with many Indonesian helpers on their day off.
We settled on a different place from a couple of days ago. The rendang was more to my taste, probably swayed by the darker colour. The gado-gado struck the right balance of savoury, sweet and spicy.
After a walk around the underground mall to the railway station, we went to Starbucks where we spent about 3h. We eventually left and collected our cases at the hotel around 1730 and hopped on the Taoyuan MRT to the airport.
Arriving at 1830, we headed airside with our mobile boarding passes with just our carry-on. What a pleasant surprise to have no queues at security and again at the automated immigration. This is possibly the easiest international departure I’ve ever had!
We headed upstairs to the Oriental Club lounge where the showers were not available tonight. The other lounge charges for the use of showers. Surprisingly despite the 37 degC heat, I didn’t feel sticky and dirty due to the much lower humidity.
We paced ourselves with some food before boarding our 2345 flight to Vienna.
