Arriving in Kuala Lumpur
I had about 4h sleep on board with the aid of 1.5 tablets of sleeping pills and a very good recline position on the slimline aircraft seats.
That’s the highest dose I had ever taken. Nothing seemed to happen with the initial 1 tablet.
The second meal was served about 3h30 prior to landing which meant there was a long wait after breakfast before we landed in Kuala Lumpur on time at 0755.
With no luggage, I would have been out very quickly if it hadn’t been for the long walk to the bus that shuttled between the Satellite C and main terminal buildings. The aerotrain was currently being replaced and is in the midst of final testing.
Killing time
With time to kill before my hotel room becomes available, I walked to the Sama Sama Hotel but was picked up en route by a buggy.
I have complimentary usage of the Sphere Lounge (basically the lobby café) in the hotel. The offer was for 2 tapas and three drinks within 3 hours.
Clocking in at 0845, time went quickly catching on admin, chats and chowing on satay and chicken rendang in Bengali toast sandwich. These were washed down by a couple of diet colas and a latte.
Around midday I took the train to KL Sentral and walked to the Double M Hotel. I had hoped they would let me in early as it was nearly 1300. But unfortunately, they stuck to the official check-in time of 1400.
I used the hour to have a shave and haircut nearby before taking a wander around the malls.
In the evening
After a rest, I decided to explore the newish Lalaport Mall (aka BBCC, Bukit Bintang City Centre) which I hadn’t visited before. It was like any other nice mall but some shop lots weren’t open yet. After grabbing a bakso for dinner, I retired back in my room.
