Back to the Festival City

12 April 2009

We ferried back to the mainland in the morning.  Adelaide is like a ghost town during the public holidays.  There weren’t many places open for lunch apart from Chinatown.  The streets were deserted and most malls were closed.  So for us, Adelaide didn’t feel very festive at all despite being promoted as the Festival City!  Supposedly it plays host to many arty festivals.

They haven’t made the big change that New Zealand has in terms of relaxing trading hours … doesn’t bother me as I’m not a shopper at all.  This is the way New Zealand used to be!!!  I love it!!!

After a rest, we bused out to Port Adelaide.  It had some old nice stone buildings and a market selling the typical old stuff but one man’s junk is another man’s antique.  But to be honest, a lot of it wasn’t very nice stuff.
