Surprisingly, the hotel buffet breakfast wasn’t great. The chicken was hacked up Asian style with lots of bones. I happily had the chicken porridge and soup instead.
We went out to a nearby mall for a wander. I toyed with the idea of buying some cooking sachets to take back but didn’t want the hassle of checking-in pastes or declaring food.
Choices at the small supermarket were limited so we took a taxi to Hypermart located at the Galeria mall. I ended up buying powdered sachets for Sayur Lodeh and Sayur Asem. They would need to be declared but not checked-in due to LAG restrictions.
We had lunch at the chain restaurant called Senayan, ordering a Nasi Uduk and a Soto Betawi. For the former, it came with a few pieces of Paru Goreng (deep fried lung).
It’s something that’s common back in eateries in Malaysia but I had never tried it, thinking it might be powdery like liver. Surprisingly it was somewhat springy like meatball. Not good enough to try again but OK enough to eat what’s on the plate.
Back at the hotel, we used the small pool briefly before meeting up with an old school friend, Gabriel, who was also visiting. The day had gone very quickly and it was after 1600 when we sat down at our sister hotel next door for Happy Hour beers.
Once done with that, I had an hour massage while they had foot massages.
We finished the lazy day with dinner together across the road. That ended my only day in Bali for this stay.
