It was a much-needed lazy day starting with rehab exercises in the hotel gym, a massage, cut-throat shave then lunch.

I went to the blind massage shop which I had been before but being Ramadhan, there was only one masseur there who happened to be deaf as well.  With no communication possible, the massage was still good, but I learnt that deaf people may think they’re letting out quiet farts when they aren’t.  He certainly wasn’t holding back.

I treated myself to the cheap ice latte at the Chinese chain Mixue before resting back in the room and enjoying the hotel rooftop pool.

Penang is a familiar city which I’ve been to recently. I had little inclination to go revisit places. This was more a place for me to decompress after my adventures.

For dinner, I headed out by bus to the once waterfront hawker centre (now inland due to land reclamation).  Being Capgomeh (last day of Chinese New Year), many stalls were closed.

That didn’t stop me from having a good feed before going for a wander in two of the nearby malls, namely Gurney Plaza and then Gurney Paragon Mall. The latter incorporates the historical St Joseph Novitiate Building, a training facility for Christian brothers.
