Above: World class Hyderabad Airport’s departure area.

I fly out to Malaysia after midnight tonight (technically tomorrow morning) and have the day to kill.  I have paid to use the room till 1930 today.

After breakfast, I took the metro one stop north, with the intention to visit a big pharmacy where I hope to get my elusive medication, and after that go to a fancy mall by rickshaw.

But disembarking the metro, I noticed that the station had a mall attached with a Decathlon store in it!  Awesome!

Since it was still too early, I went to the big pharmacy and had instant success there, getting my medication at below the MRP.  Back at the mall, there was a bit of a wait before Decathlon and Max (the UAE clothing store) opened at 1100.

It was crazy, I found much needed cotton t-shirts for sleeping to replace the ones I’ve had for about 15 years, at INR199 (NZD3.70).  There were other good deals, and I also found my ideal backpack!  It is so unlikely of me to shop and part with money, but I couldn’t help it with the price and the perfect fit.

Finishing at 1400, it was a short ride back to my area where I had a mutton biryani before returning to my room.  It was a painful process packing my old pack and the new clothing into my new pack.  It was a tight squeeze, but I managed to succeed.

I managed to have some rest before the power went off for a while.  I popped out briefly for a snack of tea and samosa before preparing to leave.

Leaving at 1930, my Uber driver had requested a bit of extra money for the long ride to the airport as the price was a bit low.  I was able to oblige and throw in a bit more to finish all my local currency.

At the airport, I confirmed that my mobile boarding pass wasn’t acceptable for my flight to Kuala Lumpur and it was a very short wait till 2030 when the counters opened.  It was good of Malaysia Airlines to open 4h ahead of their 0030 departure.

I was famished and quickly made it to the lounge located in the mezzanine floor at the far end of the terminal building.
