I kept up with my rehab exercises after waking up at 0500 and taking breakfast at 0730.
Kim was home attending to lots of matters, so I played my part by doing some admin on the computer before having a swim around 1000.
For lunch, I went out to the main road in search of Nasi Padang but the place had taken a day off. I went much further in search of another one. Some looked too dodgy while another one that looked respectable on the map was also closed, being a branch of the first one.
The Siomay Batagor place I wanted to try wasn’t ready yet, so I had Sate Madura from a shack. It was on my list, so all was good except that, the chicken ones came with both meat and liver.
When I entered the shop, I was shocked to see the veiled lady wearing a short skirt and had short sleeves. It turned out she had been squatting on the floor, working away and had pulled up her hem and sleeves.
This was my first time knowingly meeting a Madurese. They are often stereotyped as tough, very assertive, hardworking and willing to undercut prices in trade. They trans-migrated extensively through the country.
Even though Madurese are Muslim, in the Sampit conflict of 2001 in Borneo, the Christian Dayaks and Muslim Malays ganged up and killed about 3000 Madurese and decapitating some 300.

I was absolutely drenched from the long walk searching for my lunch and had to shower and take a long rest before changing into new clothes for my massage.
With a strong Shiatsu or Thai massage in mind, I walked back to Ricky’s Spa. Unfortunately, only selected staff can do those, and I had to settle for something more basic. I opted for a foot, back, neck and head massage. The lady had an injury and was weak when doing the feet but OK for the rest.
I finally got my Siomay Batagor with an egg in the evening before climbing into bed at 2130. Unfortunately, I sat up scrolling till after 2300. It’s quite a treat and something I don’t do often. I had been an even lazier day that yesterday when I set out for a walk intentionally. Today, I ended up having one because I couldn’t find the food I wanted.
