With 5h of time difference, I was up at 0500 and did my rehab exercises for my hip and knee before breakfast started at 0730.

Breakfast started with a basket of bakery, cut fruit and cereal before a hot ala carte option was given.  It was too much food for me!  Having recently gone over 75kg, this was the wrong place to be!

I went for a walk around the neighbourhood, going south towards Kuta and back.  That took me about an hour, getting me back before 1000 for a swim in the pool.

The pool was adequate for a hotel that charged about NZD40 per night including a breakfast that would cost NZD10 if it hadn’t been included in the room rate.

I found some eateries to try on Google Maps and started with a Dendeng Bakar place near the back entrance of the hotel compound.  It was permanently closed so I settled for something Balinese instead, in the form of Ayam Betutu.

After a rest, I went out to the nearby cheap massage shop called Ricky’s Spa for a 1h30 massage which only cost NZD11.50.

I made further use of the pool before having dinner of another Balinese dish Babi Guling.  It was late and they had run out of crispy skin but only had the crackling and puffed up kerupuk kulit. The sambal was quite hot but I lapped it all up.

Having left most of the rice, I treated myself to some Balinese Sate Babi and a mini beer nearby.

With the early wake-up, I was in bed at 2000 but didn’t sleep till about 2200.
