Landing some 20 mins ahead of schedule at 1700, we disembarked about 10 mins later and I was through immigration using the automated gates at 1715. It was purely walking time with no waiting at all. I had applied for an obtained a Visa Exemption application online free-of-charge, which allowed the use of the autogate.
Next was a customs check of my arrival card QR code, which includes a customs declaration online.
There was no check of the Bali’s tourism levy but I understand one can be checked at any time while on the island.
The Gojek and Grab waiting areas were side-by-side, with helpers there. I went with Grab which was fractionally cheaper but there was a fee of IDR12000 (NZD1.20) which was verbally advised at the office rather than in-app, for parking. The cars and drivers were already parked waiting, meaning that I didn’t have to wait for a car to arrive.
The ride took 30 mins, getting me to the Matahari Bungalow at 1800, an hour after landing. It was a very efficient arrival experience.
I finished my day with a brief walk of my neighbourhood before retiring at 2200.
