Today we drive down from Christchurch to the western shore of Lake Benmore to join our friends who are camping there.
We left after 0800 and stopped at Rolleston to get some groceries as our contribution before continuing to Dunsandel for breakfast after 0900.
The remaining stops along the way now seem to be regular features, namely Burke’s Pass and Tekapo.

We tried stopping at Fairlie for at the famous pie shop but the queue was far too long. We continued to Twizel instead for some lunch before going onto unsealed roads to the camp site, getting there after around 1430.
The camp site was largely as I remember from 4 years ago except that there is now a long-drop toilet to supplement the chemical toilet.
