Breakfast hype

Even though I woke at 0630, my tummy wasn’t ready for the highly-recommended breakfast that’s nearby.  I waited till about 0800 before joining the queue which snaked up the stairs into a food hall.  No other stall in that food hall appeared to be open at that time, so perhaps they are all lunch and dinner outlets.

It took me 30 mins to get to my turn.  The place had a variety of bready wraps and I chose one that appealed to me, washed down with a soya milk.  While it was nice, it was a bit too filling for me and not worth the hype.

Beitou Hot Springs

I headed out at 1000 by metro to the Beitou area on the northern edge of Taipei.  With the cold wet weather, it seemed like the perfect day for it.

I got to Beitou around 1100 and had a little wander around the various thermal scenic spots that are free of charge.  I then took a soak in one of the onsen-style bathhouse.  The water at 44 to 45 degC was a bit too hot and I was in and out several times during my 45 min stay.

Rest of the day

Back in the city around 1400, I found a place serving pre-cooked food from bain maries.  They boxed up my meal in the same way as those Taiwanese railway lunch boxes!  And it was cheap and delicious.  I was lucky to have caught the place minutes before they closed up after the lunch trade.

I returned to the west end of Songshan Airport runway for another stint of plane-spotting.
