I started the day with burek from the bakery across the road, and an instant coffee in my room.
Today, I’m moving to Istanbul, staying near the airport at the Arnavutkoy area in preparation for a morning flight to Damascus tomorrow. I left the hotel by Uber at 0915 for the 1000 bus to Istanbul Airport.
It was a comfortable ride on the motorway (unlike the ride here), in a spacious 3-across configuration. All went well, except that we had to stop for a police check. Not exactly sure what they were looking for.
Getting to the airport at 1230, it was a short wait for the 1310 public bus to the hotel area. I grabbed a nice sit-down lunch before checking in at 1400 at the Fourpoints Airpoints Hotel (not related to the big international chain).
I finally have time to do much-needed admin on the computer and internet. Even more timely as I could be without good wifi and short of time in the coming days in Syria.
With all the mental activity on the computer, I got hungry less than 3h after lunch and grabbed dinner at 1700.
Sunset is early at this time of year and I also retired early in preparation for tomorrow’s early start.
