Re-planning

Moving to Wulingyuan

I slept soundly last night despite the noise of revellers outside.  But the others told me that the noise came to an abrupt stop at midnight.

After breakfast at 0830 near the hotel, I walked with E & BW to enjoy the final bit of time we had at Fenghuang.  Despite breakfast, we grabbed another potato rosti filled with egg, something we quite enjoyed last night.

We taxied to the bullet train for the 1247 train back to Zhangjiajie West.  Arriving 59 mins later, we hopped into the van which we had organised beforehand to take us to Wulingyuan.

After 45 mins, we arrived at Jinmengyuan Inn, our home for the next four nights, as our base for exploring Zhangjiajie National Park and the surroundings (except Tianmen which is closer to Zhangjiajie city).

Our kind host there was keen to explain everything about the National Park to us but we managed to delay her till after lunch.

Re-planning

I had booked tickets for entering the park for four days starting tomorrow plus tickets for using the Bailong Elevator and Tianzishan Cableway.

With bad weather forecast for tomorrow, we met in the evening to replan our days in the park.

We agreed that the best part of the park, which required the elevator and cableway would be best done the day after tomorrow when better weather was on the cards.

Tomorrow could be spent on lesser sights of the park which didn’t need those modes of transport.

With that agreed, we cancelled our elevator and cableway ticket online and repurchased them with our host, enabling her to earn a little commission.

I grabbed some wontons for dinner in the night market near the hotel but was joined by E & BW later after they had visited a friend who had brought E’s spare pair of trousers from Singapore.

As they sat down to eat, the heavens opened and we stayed until the rain eased enough to return to the hotel.  Even then, a poncho was necessary and E gave me his spare one.
